Þann 18.apríl næstkomandi verða tvær vinnustofur í Gerðubergi á vegum SATÍS. Sú fyrri verður kl.9.30-12 og sú seinni kl.13-15.30.

Vinnustofurnar munu fara fram á ensku.

Fyrirlesarari: Magda Stropnik Ph.D. BCBA-D

Í þessari vinnustofu verður fjallað um árangursríkar leiðir til þess að forgangsraða þeirri færni sem kenna á börnum með sérþarfir, leggja mat á kennsluaðferðirnar sem notaðar eru og leysa úr þeim vandamálum sem geta komið upp.

Á seinni vinnustofunni verður lögð áhersla á yfirfærslu og mikilvægi hennar í kennslu barna með sérþarfir. Farið verður yfir kennsluaðferðir sem gera ráð fyrir að kenna yfirfærslu frá byrjun.

Verð á eina vinnustofu:Almennt verð 10.000kr, 7.000kr fyrir félaga SATÍS og 3.500kr fyrir nema.

Verð fyrir tvær vinnustofur:  Almennt verð 17.000kr, 11.000kr fyrir félaga SATÍS og 4.500kr fyrir nema.

Magda Stropnik serves as Director of Special Projects within the Public School Services Department and works with a number of districts providing consultation, evaluations and staff training.  Magda is a Supervising Practitioner for the  Simmons College graduate program in Severe Special Needs in Special Education and serves as a Mentor for the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE). She is an active participant in school-wide clinical and educational programming with a focus on the functional assessment and treatment of challenging behavior. Magda’s interests include curriculum development, with a particular interest in curriculum designed to increase student independence in both community and vocational activities.

Chata A. Dickson is the Assistant Director of Research, Autism Curriculum Encyclopedia at the New England Center for Children.  She is also a Clinical Adjunct Faculty in the graduate program in Behavior Analysis at Western New England University, and Co-Investigator on an NIH-funded grant investigating observing and attending in intellectual disabilities with Dr. William Dube, University of Massachusetts Medical School – Shriver Center. She began her work in behavior analysis and autism spectrum disorders in 1993 in Central FL, where she piloted the first Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) program for preschool-aged children with autism, and co-founded a private clinic for young children with autism. Dr. Dickson’s research interests include instructional technology, stimulus control, attention, memory, and effects of learning history. Her work has been published in American Journal on Mental Retardation, Journal of the Experimental Analysis of Behavior, Psychological Record, and Research in Developmental Disabilities, and she serves on the Board of Editors of the Mexican Journal of Behavior Analysis

Nánar um vinnustofuna:

Identifying and prioritizing skills to teach children with autism is a critical first step to providing effective treatment. Skill deficits are present across all areas of adaptive functioning, with communication and social skills being areas of greatest need.  It is difficult for clinicians, teachers, and parents to determine which skills to teach first.  The Core Skills Assessment developed at the New England Center for Children will be reviewed and assessment results presented for students across ages, programs, and ability levels.

 Learning Objectives:

1.   List critical factors related to selecting and prioritizing goals
2.   Discuss the importance of the fit between the selected goals, the instructional strategy, and the context in which the student is to be taught.
3.   Describe steps that should be taken when a student is not making progress
4.   Understand the importance of evaluation in the design and refinement of a program of instruction

Nánar um vinnustofuna:

 Behavior change is helpful to an individual only to the extent that this change is seen across environments relevant to them.  Although the importance of the generality of behavior change has been emphasized by behavior analysts for over four decades there remains work to be done to encourage practitioners to apply recommended methods to improve learners’ performance across settings, and to support them in this application.  In this workshop we will 1) discuss the meaning of the terms generalization, generality, and general repertoire, 2) discuss the importance of considerations of use as part of the initial planning for teaching a skill, 2) review strategies for establishing general repertoires, and 3) facilitate exercises whereby attendees will practice these strategies.  Strategies to be discussed include those offered by Stokes and Baer in 1977, as well as general case analysis, matrix training, and generalization mapping.  Skill areas specifically addressed will include imitation, community skills, and social skills.

Learning Objectives:
Through participation in this workshop, attendees will:

1. Describe the concept, general repertoire, and describe why it is important to program for these
2. Design a matrix for matrix training
3. Define observational learning, and distinguish from imitation
